Publishing Options

NeucitePress Books offers authors a choice of publishing models. The model is agreed before production begins, and editorial decisions are made independently of the chosen model: every manuscript undergoes the same rigorous double-anonymous peer review. No charges apply at submission or during peer review under any model.

Open Access

Open access titles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license and are immediately and permanently available to read, download, and share worldwide, ensuring maximum visibility and global dissemination. Open access publication is funded by a one-time Book Processing Charge (BPC), which may be covered by the author, their institution, or a research funder. Many institutions and funding bodies provide dedicated support for open access book charges; authors are advised to consult their institution's library or research office regarding available funding. Please contact us for the current BPC schedule.

* These charges are tentative and indicative only, and may change. The exact charge depends on length, format, and the production and dissemination services required, and the final figure is confirmed in your acceptance letter. Discounts — and full or partial waivers — may be offered to authors without access to research or institutional funding, including established researchers; lack of funds should not prevent the publication of strong scholarship. How our open-access charges compare

The table below sets our approach against the published open-access book charges of major scholarly publishers, so you can see where we sit. Our charges are quoted per title and set to undercut the commercial list prices shown here, with waivers available. Figures for other publishers are their list “starting” prices for a standard title, in US dollars, excluding VAT and before any discounts.

PublisherMonograph (OA)Edited volume (OA)Single OA chapter
NeucitePress Books$9,000*$12,000*$1,200*
Springer Nature / Palgrave$14,875$15,680$3,010
Taylor & Francis / Routledgefrom ~$14,000priced as a bookfrom ~$1,860
De Gruyter Brillfrom ~$7,600from ~$7,600quoted per title

At the larger publishers, many authors pay less than these list prices through institutional open-access agreements, discounts for authors funded in low- and lower-middle-income countries (up to around 75% at some publishers), or retrospective open-access options. Some of the largest publishers offer no waivers at all; NeucitePress provides full or partial waivers on request. Our own figures (marked *) are tentative and may change, and discounts may be offered to established authors without research funding.

Price disclaimer: the figures shown for other publishers are indicative only. They were compiled from those publishers’ public pricing pages in mid-2026, are list or “starting” prices that exclude VAT and local taxes, and do not reflect discounts, waivers, or institutional agreements. Prices change frequently — please verify the current charge directly with each publisher before relying on it. NeucitePress charges are confirmed in writing in your acceptance letter.
